Experience

Paul is the founder and principal of Remarkable IP and is a registered New Zealand and Australian patent attorney.

Paul has considerable experience in the preparation and filing of patent, trade mark and design applications in New Zealand and overseas. Paul has advised on complex patent and trade mark infringement matters and prosecuted numerous applications before various Patent Offices including the New Zealand Patent Office, the Australian Patent Office, the US Patent Office, the European Patent Office and the Chinese Patent Office.

Prior to founding Remarkable IP Paul worked as both a trade mark and patent examiner at the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand and then as a patent attorney at a highly respected New Zealand patent attorney firm. While qualifying as a New Zealand patent attorney, Paul won the prize for highest mark in the New Zealand Law and Practice relating to the Preparation of Specifications for New Zealand Patents (also known as “drafting”). He also received the top mark in the New Zealand Law and Practice relating to Trade Marks.

Outside of the office Paul can be found on the slopes at the Remarkables ski field, reading, watching sport, playing basketball or bass guitar in his band the Doylees.
